Privacy policy
We collect very little, on purpose. This page lists all of it, and explains what you can ask us to do with it.
Before the detail
Reading OpinionConduit doesn't require an account, and the site has no sign-up form, newsletter, comments, analytics tool, advertising tracker or social media button. Every font, image and script comes from our own server, so opening a page doesn't tell any other company that you visited.
Three things are left that involve personal data: the log our web server writes for each request, a cookie that stores your answer to the cookie banner, and any email you decide to send us. The sections below take them one at a time, as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires.
Who decides what happens to your data
CTAWeb Srls is the data controller for this website. The company is registered at Via Castelluccio 3, 81030 Falciano del Massico (CE), Italy, with VAT number IT04201890615 and REA number CE-307422. Write to info@opinionconduit.com about anything on this page. Given how little data the site processes, the law doesn't require a data protection officer and we haven't appointed one.
The data, one kind at a time
Web server logs
What: for every page, image or file your browser requests, the server notes your IP address, the date and time, the address requested, the result (for example "found" or "not found"), the amount of data sent, the page that linked to it and the browser identification string your browser sends.
Why: to serve the site, spot and block attacks or abusive traffic, and find broken pages.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We've weighed it against your interests: the logs are not used to identify or profile readers, and they're kept for a short time.
How long: the logs are rotated every week and the oldest copy is deleted automatically, so nothing stays longer than about six weeks. The only exception is an entry we need to investigate a specific attack or to establish or defend a legal claim.
The consent cookie
What: a cookie called consent that holds one word, accepted or rejected, depending on the button you pressed on the banner.
Why: so that the banner doesn't ask you again on every page, and so that we can respect a refusal.
Legal basis: complying with the rules on cookie consent (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR). It's a strictly necessary cookie, so it doesn't itself need consent.
How long: 180 days, unless you delete it sooner. The cookie policy explains how.
Emails you send us
What: your email address, your name if you sign the message, what you write and anything you attach.
Why: to answer you, to correct a guide you've flagged, or to deal with a privacy request.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to readers (Article 6(1)(f)); for privacy requests, the legal obligation to handle them (Article 6(1)(c)).
How long: while the conversation is useful, and no more than 24 months after the last message, unless the law obliges us to keep it or we need it for a legal claim.
Please don't include health information, financial account numbers or identity documents in your emails. We don't need them and we'll delete them.
What we don't do with data
We don't sell it, rent it or swap it. We don't build profiles of readers, and no decision about you is made automatically. There is currently no audience-measurement tool on the site, even for readers who click "Accept" on the banner. If we ever add one, it will only run for readers who agree, this policy and the cookie policy will name it first, and the banner will ask everyone again.
Links to survey panels, apps and offers
Many of our guides link to survey panels, cashback apps and other platforms, and some of those links are affiliate links that let the platform or an affiliate network record that you came from us (see the affiliate disclosure). The moment you land on another site, its owner decides what it collects: the platform and the network are independent data controllers, working under their own privacy policies. That matters more than usual in this field, because survey panels ask a lot of personal questions. Read their policies before you join; our guide on privacy and paid surveys explains what to look for.
The affiliate networks we work with or may work with are MaxBounty (Canada) and Perform[cb] (United States). Their privacy policies: MaxBounty, Perform[cb]. New networks will be added to this list before we use them.
From these networks we get reports of clicks and completed actions, with a click reference, a date and a country. They contain no names, email addresses or payment details, and we don't try to work out who is behind a click.
Where the data is stored and who can see it
The website and the mailbox run on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. Hetzner acts as our processor under Article 28 GDPR: it stores the data for us and can't use it for its own purposes. Apart from that, data is disclosed only when a law or a competent authority requires it.
We don't send personal data outside the European Economic Area. Data collected by a platform or a network after you follow a link, or by your own email provider before your message reaches us, is handled by them under their own safeguards.
Your rights under the GDPR
| You can ask us to | In practice |
|---|---|
| Tell you what we hold | We confirm whether we have data about you and send you a copy |
| Correct it | We fix anything inaccurate |
| Delete it | We erase it, unless the law requires us to keep it |
| Restrict it | We keep it but stop using it while a dispute is settled |
| Hand it over | We send the data you gave us in a common machine-readable format |
| Stop using it | We stop processing based on legitimate interest, unless we have compelling grounds |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it. Email info@opinionconduit.com with "Privacy request" at the start of the subject line; we answer within one month. We may ask you to confirm the request from the address the data relates to. Server logs contain IP addresses rather than names, so for log data please tell us your IP address and roughly when you visited.
If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or to the authority where you live or work in the EU.
Visitors from the United States and elsewhere
This policy applies in the same way to every visitor. For California and other US state privacy laws: we don't sell personal information and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control and third-party tracking
We don't follow readers across websites and we don't let other companies do it on our pages, so a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal changes nothing here: everyone already gets untracked pages. No third party collects data about your activity on OpinionConduit over time or across other sites. Tracking by others can only begin once you leave through an outbound link.
Children
The site is written for adults, and most of the platforms we cover only accept users aged 18 or over. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If a child has emailed us, let us know and we'll delete the message.
Keeping data safe
Pages are only served over HTTPS. The server, the logs and the mailbox can be accessed only by the people who operate the site, and logs are deleted on the schedule above.
Updates to this policy
This version takes effect on September 24, 2026. If we change it, the date at the top of the page changes too. Changes to what we collect or why are also announced in a note at the top of this page for at least 30 days, and where consent is needed we'll ask for it before the change applies.
